The postdoctoral research scholar conducts research under the general oversight of a faculty mentor in preparation for a career position in academe, industry, government, or the nonprofit sector. Postdoctoral research work provides essential training that may include opportunities to enhance teaching and other professional skills.

National Postdoctoral Association

  • The University of Georgia is an Organizational Member of the National Postdoctoral Association.
  • As an Organizational Member, UGA’s postdocs are eligible for free Affiliate Memberships. Register for National Postdoctoral Association Affiliate Membership.
  • NPA Career Center – Postdocs can search and receive alerts every time a job becomes available that matches their personal profile, skills, interests, and preferred location(s). Organizations can post jobs and recruit the most qualified candidates, search the resume database, and email jobs directly to job seekers.

General and Relocation Resources for International Scholars

  • Resources for items such as banking, getting a Georgia Driver’s license, English language resources, an off-campus housing guide, important UGA phone numbers, social security cards, transportation around Athens and more.
